![]() ![]() And in my mind anyway, there's a certain authenticity to be had by getting the technology out of your face, jamming with a real amp, turning physical knobs, and just hitting record when it feels right. Technology is amazing but it can easily become the tail that wags the dog. Maybe they are concerned that they want to get a sound they can take on the road with them at some stage. Perhaps the desk option just presents too many variables and messes with their mindset. Maybe there's a latency issue, maybe they miss the sustain of a live, loud amp. It might be something they can't entirely nail down to specifics. If they feel something is missing recording into the board, that's your answer. I'd suggest that the quality of the performance often trumps technical considerations. Just asking for anything from the bros in the sub □Įdit- thanks for all the awesome responses! ![]() ![]() So maybe I’m also asking for a reality check. Maybe I’m too worried about something that I haven’t even done yet and also too worried about something that most people won’t care about. I feel like I’m just worried about the quality. I have a DI box so I know at the very least I can record a DI track with my live amp track. So idunno I just wanted to get some input from the audio pros or people with just more experience. I’ve got an SM57, the internet, and lots of time to figure it out, but I’m worried I’ve been hamstrung as a hobbyist by the ease of plugins that have been professionally recorded with much better gear on much better gear. I’m not necessarily opposed but I it, I’m just worried about the quality of the sound. On this go around for the next album one of my band mates mentioned home much they like the analog sound of my orange combined with my pedals and expressed an interest in recording the guitar tracks with it. We recorded our first album no problem from my home studio with just DI recordings and superior drummer. Including just a two input interface (Apollo), some good highly recommend amp sim plugins, and just a small practice amp. Ive always been a bedroom guitar player and music maker, so the gear I’ve acquired over the years is suited towards that. Only problem is that all I’ve got an orange CR60C and an untreated bedroom. I’m basically the engineer for my band and recently my band mates mentioned an interest in stepping away from amp sims and recording live amps. ![]()
